I’m a Seattle transplant now living and working in NYC. Though I haven’t forsaken my Starbucks loyalty for the food truck cup of coffee, I have become a New Yorker though and through (if, of course, that includes escaping to some mountains every once in a while). I avoid Times Square at all costs, have moved to Brooklyn with my boyfriend and our dog, Barnaby, and think 2pm brunch is one of life’s necessities.

I am a graduate student at NYU and have been tasked with keeping a blog this semester relevant to my career. As I work in healthcare public relations and am fascinated by social media strategy as it applies to the healthcare industry: Voila, my blog!  With my weekly posts I hope to evaluate some questions. How can consumer health companies continue to utilize social media? How will pharma companies embrace social media? Will they instead be left in the digital dust of communication regulations? I created this blog to explore not only these questions but to try to make critical sense of the conundrum communicators in healthcare face as we attempt to remain competitive with other industries.
